CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR RESTORATIONS

“SYDNEY’S OLDEST PUB” FORTUNE OF WAR CLOSING TEMPORARILY FOR RESTORATIONS JULY 4TH 2016

After 188 years of serving beer to tens of thousands of colourful faces from all over the world, the Fortune of War in Sydney’s The Rocks calls last drinks (for now). With the last major works conducted in the 1920’s – it is time for much needed structural repairs and restorations.

The Restoration

This restoration is being undertaken with the support of heritage consultants to ensure the integrity of the Fortune of War’s history is preserved, along with it’s charm. Some of the work being undertaken includes repairing the creaky floors, replacing the coolroom, plumbing, and electricals, new carpet and of course a lick of paint.

Once complete, the Fortune of War will look like a refreshed version of it’s former self. Customers will still be able to pull up a stool at the bar and chat to their favourite bartenders – the seats will just be more comfortable!

The Push

Whilst the Fortune of War is closed, customers can catch Glenn Esmond every Sunday afternoon next door at its sister venue, The Push. The Push offers a great selection of cocktails, domestic craft beers, and Australian wines, and the Fortune of War kitchen team will be pumping out the same pub-style food that customers love. The live Piano Man will also continue Friday and Saturday nights from 7:30pm. The Push is open daily from lunch until late, and will also be honouring all Fortune of War membership discounts.

For the latest news and updates on the restorations, visit the Fortune of War Facebook page, or sign up to the email newsletter.

Fortune of War is expected to reopen in early Spring.
